Grizzlies Cup 2025: A Celebration of Sports, Community, and Fun
Young athletes from Guadalajara and other cities across the country participated in the second edition of the Grizzlies Cup, hosted by Canadian School.
The Grizzlies Cup 2025 took place from March 6 to 9 at the facilities of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. The event welcomed 900 students and 2,000 parents from various local schools and institutions from León, Querétaro, and Puebla.
The main goal of the tournament was to promote sports, teamwork, and resilience while fostering the core values of the Canadian School Way: empathy, honesty, cooperation, love, responsibility, and respect.
Some of the participating schools included Instituto Thomas Jefferson, The American School Foundation of Guadalajara, Colegio Teresiano, Cumbres International School San Javier, Instituto de Ciencias, Colegio Salesiano Anáhuac Chapalita, Instituto Miguel Ángel de Occidente, as well as the Canadian School campuses in León, Querétaro, and Puebla.
Students competed in disciplines such as soccer, basketball, karate, and cheerleading, proudly representing their institutions with passion and dedication. In addition to the sporting competitions, the event featured a recreational area with bounce houses for children of different ages, workshops for toddlers, and a food court offering a wide variety of meals and snacks.
A special highlight of the tournament was the performance by the Canadian School rock band, composed of elementary students, who played the official song of the event.
The opening ceremony took place on the night of March 6 and was led by Antonio Leaño del Castillo, President of the Canadian School Group, who welcomed all attendees and emphasized the importance of living the school’s values through sports. Also in attendance was José Luis García Rodríguez, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, representing Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, Secretary of Education of the State of Jalisco.
Canadian School Guadalajara students Ania Michel Ochoa and Fernanda Cornejo Soto, both outstanding athletes, were responsible for the athletes’ oath and the lighting of the cauldron, officially marking the start of the interschool games. The invited delegations paraded before the audience, and the flag honors were conducted by the Fourteenth Infantry Battalion of the 15th Military Zone. To conclude the event, the Ballet Folclórico of UAG and the mariachi group Estampas de Mi Tierra presented a spectacular show featuring traditional Jalisco music alongside a fireworks display.
The final day of the tournament began with a 5K race around the UAG circuit, followed by the soccer finals. At the end of each match, awards were presented by category, bringing this exciting second edition of the Grizzlies Cup to a close.

La Grizzlies Cup 2025: Un Encuentro de Deporte, Comunidad y Diversión
Jóvenes atletas de Guadalajara y otras ciudades de la República participaron en la segunda edición de la Grizzlies Cup, con el Canadian School como anfitrión.
La Grizzlies Cup 2025 se llevó a cabo del 6 al 9 de marzo en las instalaciones de la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. En el evento participaron 900 alumnos y 2 mil padres de familia de varios colegios locales y de instituciones ubicadas en León, Querétaro y Puebla.
El objetivo principal de la copa fue fomentar el deporte, el trabajo en equipo y la resiliencia, promoviendo los valores fundamentales del Canadian School Way: empatía, honestidad, cooperación, amor, responsabilidad y respeto.
Algunos de los colegios participantes fueron el Instituto Thomas Jefferson, The American School Foundation of Guadalajara, Colegio Teresiano, Cumbres International School San Javier, Instituto de Ciencias, Colegio Salesiano Anáhuac Chapalita, Instituto Miguel Ángel de Occidente, así como los campus del Canadian School en León, Querétaro y Puebla.
Los alumnos compitieron en disciplinas como fútbol, básquetbol, karate y porras, representando a sus instituciones con pasión y compromiso. Además de las competencias deportivas, el evento contó con un área recreativa con brincolines para niños de diferentes edades, talleres para toddlers y un food court con una gran variedad de alimentos y snacks.
Un momento especial de la copa fue la presentación de la rock band del Canadian School, integrada por alumnos de primaria, quienes interpretaron la canción oficial del evento.
La inauguración se llevó a cabo la noche del 6 de marzo y estuvo encabezada por Antonio Leaño del Castillo, presidente del Canadian School Group, quien dio la bienvenida a todos los asistentes y resaltó la importancia de vivir los valores a través del deporte. En el acto también estuvo presente José Luis García Rodríguez, titular de la Dirección de Educación Física y Deporte, en representación de Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, secretario de Educación del Estado de Jalisco. Las alumnas Ania Michel Ochoa y Fernanda Cornejo Soto, destacadas atletas del Canadian School Guadalajara, fueron las encargadas del juramento deportivo y del encendido del pebetero que marcó el inicio oficial de los juegos intercolegiales. Las delegaciones invitadas desfilaron ante el público presente, y los honores a la bandera estuvieron a cargo del Decimocuarto Batallón de Infantería de la 15ava Zona Militar. Para cerrar con broche de oro, el Ballet Folclórico de la UAG y el mariachi Estampas de Mi Tierra ofrecieron un espectáculo con música representativa de Jalisco, acompañado de un show de pirotecnia.
El último día del evento inició con una carrera de 5K en el circuito de la UAG, seguida por las finales de fútbol. Al término de cada partido, se llevaron a cabo las premiaciones por categoría, cerrando así con gran entusiasmo esta segunda edición de la Grizzlies Cup.
